Artificial Plants & Greenery

Potted artificial greenery and compact faux plants — trailing vines and upright silhouettes sized for shelves, consoles and desks.

Potted greenery for shelves, consoles and dim corners

Small potted plants are the hardest houseplants to keep alive. They dry out faster than floor plants, they need the brightest spot in the room, and they sulk when a shelf is too far from a window. A potted faux plant removes that negotiation. It can sit exactly where the room needs green, even if that spot never sees daylight.

This collection is built around one compact, trailing piece rather than a wall of options: the trailing pothos, sized for the places where a real plant would be a daily worry.

The trailing pothos: 25 cm tall, 60 cm of trail

The pothos stands about 25 cm above the pot and trails roughly 60 cm, with variegated silk foliage that mixes cream and green across the leaves. The pot is a matte clay ceramic, neutral enough to sit on wood, marble or painted shelves without fighting the room.

The trailing habit is the point. A compact plant fills a shelf; a trailing one softens the hard line where the shelf meets the wall. It also lets you use vertical space without adding another piece of furniture.

Where it works best

  • Bookshelves: on a mid-height shelf where the trail can fall past the shelf edge without blocking the books below.
  • Consoles and sideboards: at one end, so the trail pulls the eye along the surface.
  • Bathrooms without windows: a spot where real plants usually fail for lack of light.
  • Desks and home offices: a low-maintenance green edge in the frame of a video call.
  • Kitchen shelves: away from the stove and the sink spray, where steam and grease would dull the leaves.

Measure the drop before you place it. A 60 cm trail needs clearance below the shelf; if it lands on a worktop or a chair back, the plant will be pushed aside every day and never look settled.

One pot or a trio

One trailing pothos is usually enough for a shelf or a console. If you want a fuller look, use three pots at different heights rather than one crowded pot — the trails can overlap without the plants competing for the same space. Keep the pots in the same finish so the arrangement reads as a set instead of a collection of leftovers.

A single pot also works well beside a larger floor tree, where it adds a lower tier of green without repeating the same silhouette.

Keeping the variegation crisp

Dust is what makes faux greenery look tired. Lift the pot down once a month and wipe the leaves with a soft dry cloth, supporting each leaf from underneath so the stem does not bend. For the spaces between leaves, a cool hairdryer on low works well.

Keep the piece out of prolonged direct sun. The foliage is not UV-rated, and strong sun will fade the cream variegation faster than the green. Avoid misting and do not water the pot; the ceramic is there for weight and proportion, not drainage.

What to do if a trail gets crushed

Silk leaves recover well. Warm a bent leaf between your fingers, reshape it, and let it cool in the new position. If a longer section of stem has been flattened, support it from below for a day so the wire can settle. Avoid pulling the trail to lengthen it; the stems are fixed at the length they arrive.

Shipping, returns and what to expect

Orders dispatch within 2–4 business days and standard delivery takes 4–6 business days. Standard shipping is complimentary on orders over $38.88. Returns are accepted within 30 days, and the foliage carries a 2-year colour guarantee.

If you are deciding between a potted piece and a floor tree, choose the pothos when the space is horizontal — a shelf, a desk, a console — and the tree when the space is vertical and empty.
